Moving Tips: Two weeks out
Check with your insurance company to cancel current coverage or transfer coverage to your new home.
What can you do with items that won't fit in normal moving boxes? If they won't fit in oversized wardrobe boxes, and wrapping them in bubble wrap seems impractical, you're going to have to make other arrangements to transport the items. Most moving companies can't take pets or plants, and
you can't pack a pet in a kitchen box. It's just wrong!
Arrange for someone to drive your animal or take him along in a car, and sell the plants at your garage
sale. Then buy new plants after your move. Change your bank accounts, and contact your pharmacy
to transfer any prescriptions to a new drug store in your new town. Get your car prepared for the move. Oil change, fluids, tires, belts. Pack an emergency car kit in your trunk, just in case. Don't overstuff your automobile with moving boxes, or moving supplies because you'll appreciate more room if you have to drive any distance.
Get a moving van that can carry all of your belongings, and pack the moving and storage boxes in
tight. Don't forget to check all of the cubby holes and hiding places in your old house where you may have stuffed or hidden things over the years. Keep one cardboard medium box out, and marked, to pack these items into as you come across them.
