How to Load the Moving Van for your Easy Move
Now that you've packed all of your house in sturdy cardboard moving boxes and sealed them with packing tape, the day has finally arrived. It's time to load the moving van. First things first. Load the heaviest items. All appliances, washer, dryer, refrigerators need to be put against the front wall of the van.
Next, work your way backward with chairs, tables, bookcases. Stack the sofa, and anything else you can on a vertical to save space.Be sure to always put the heavier items on the floor of the truck and stack boxes in around them. One of the packing supplies you should have bought was rope or twine. This is invaluable to tie off everything to the slats on the wall put there for just that purpose.
Before you move too far forward, be sure to stack boxes onto, and build up around the appliances. Be careful though, you don't want a top heavy load that slides back when you go up a hill, or take off too fast. You can use the rope to tie off the boxes on top of appliances to help avoid just that scenario. Fill in the open spaces with the right size moving box.
Keep lightweight items in moving boxes on top of the load. Don't forget to put tall flat items like mattresses and table tops against a truck wall and tie them off. Put your odd-shaped items along the sides or stack them on top of boxes. Then fill in around them with other boxes to secure them for the trip.Packing everything carefully in moving boxes, and then carefully loading those boxes into the back of the moving van will ensure a safe and easy move.
