Having a garage sale can be a great way to get rid of clutter and make extra money to help with your move. You will have less to pack in moving boxes, less for the movers to carry, and less for you to pay to move. The key to a successful garage sale is to be prepared and organized. First, pick a time and date to have the sale. Advertise in your local paper, and handmade street signs.
A lot of people drive around on weekends just looking for bargains. Try to make it a Friday and Saturday sale if you can. You'll sell a lot more stuff. Collect plastic shopping bags to put your customers
purchases in, and have at least thirty dollars in small bills and change ready to go.

Now, clean everything out that you don't use, don't want to take on your Move, don't need, don't want,
whatever. Get rid of anything you haven't used in the last 12 months. Organize your inventory by categories. Label the price you want on each item. Keep your prices low to avoid haggling, but be prepared to discount further. What may be a bargain to you, may be outrageous to someone else. Just remember, you don't want to move it.

Organize clothing by gender and sizes. Hang it up. Don't pile it all on a table for people to go through.
That looks tacky. Arrange your shoes in a neat and orderly fashion on the floor. Clean all of your kitchen gadgets, and other items that need dusting or wiping. Try to make it look shiny and new.
Get help. All of your customers will talk to you at once, and they will step on top of one another while
you're counting out change. Just exercise patience, and answer a lot of questions. Be friendly. Smile.
