5 More Great and Easy Moving Tips!
KEEP YOUR BOXES TOGETHER
You'll help your movers immensely by designating one color marker for room. Be sure your movers place the
boxes out of high traffic areas, and with the contents facing out. You'll be able to read what's in each box
and move in faster.
KEEP A PARTS BAG
Buy giant plastic zip storage bags and place all hardware into it, along with a slip of paper stating where it belongs.
(I.E. Bunkbed, kids room) Then put all of your storage bags into a moving box marked HARDWARE.
START PACKING 4 WEEKS OUT
Pack ahead anything you don't need or aren't using. If you start early, it won't be so overwhelming. Just put the boxes in the garage, or out of the way. Make sure to keep them together by location, KITCHEN BOXES, BEDROOM BOXES, so that your movers can load them and unload them together. Trust me, it makes it go by faster.
KEEP YOUR VALUABLES WITH YOU
If you don't have a fireproof safe for all of your important papers, get one. Then put it in the trunk of your car when you move, so that your valuables are with you during your move.
KEEP YOUR BILLS IN YOUR MOVE BOOK
Some things can get overlooked in a move, so have everything in one central location. Utility bills for old and new homes, important moving papers. Use your MOVE Book as a resource and guide to help you keep track of all the little things.
EXTRA TIP:
Make sure each family member makes a personal move box, with all of the items they are going to need when
you immediately move in. This is the first box they unpack and can go a long way to making a new house
feel like a home.
